How to Achieve Financial Freedom Without Sacrificing Happiness

I think the majority of people have a dream of making oodles of money, especially when they are younger.

And for some reason, the size of your paycheck is the universal sign of success.

While I agree that money is important, I think if you pin your self-worth on the size of your bank account or the amount of assets you have you will be setting yourself up for a miserable life.

Instead, take the time to think about what your ideal life would look like and reverse engineer it.

I’ve been trying to do this ever since I first read The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, and let me tell you, it’s not been easy for me.

The hardest part is knowing what I want. I’ve had a good crack at it though. Way back when I decided I wanted to live a life of travel. I decided that I needed to make money online and earn at least $50 a day. It took me a few years to figure it out, but I did it.

Nowadays I don’t want that life so much anymore. I still love to travel, but I like to be settled.

So, what’s next?

I admit, I’ve been stagnant the past several years. Not having a clear goal makes life more difficult.

When you have a clear goal, then all that’s left is to figure out how to achieve it, and then put the work in. I envy those who have found ‘their calling.’

Anyway, I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you haven't already, take the time to decide how you would like to live your ideal life.

Build your lifestyle by design.

Dream it up, figure out what you need to do to obtain it, including how much money you will need, and then go out and do it.
