Cambodia was a beautiful country to visit, but they have a very sad history due to the Khmer Rouge.

Pol Pot caused the deaths of around 20% of the population in the back end of the 70s, which really isn't that long ago. Many of the elderly we met would have lived through that terror.

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is probably the most famous attraction in Cambodia. According to Guinness World Records, it is the largest religious structure in the world.

According to me, it is a must-visit.

Kep

One of my favorite towns in Cambodia was Kep. I can’t actually recall too much apart from visiting the wet market and getting quite ill for a few days, but for some reason I just have fond memories of it.

sihanoukville

Sihanoukville is a classic beach city. Chill vibes and tourists.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

Besides Angkor Wat, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum was the most memorable place we visited. It’s a chilling place full of torture stories. I’m not sure I’d want to visit it again, but I did learn a lot about that horrific period of time.

There aren’t many countries I would bother revisiting, but if a friend wanted to meet up in Cambodia I would definitely go back.
