Every couple of years I go back to Western Australia to see family and friends, and every time I visit mum likes to go on a little getaway down south.

That is, to somewhere in the Southwest of Australia.

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of Perth, but the greater Southwest is amazing.

This time we went somewhere close to Denmark, primarily to see the giant tingle trees.

You can’t really see it from this photo, but from the side these rocks resemble elephants.

Not surprisingly, they are called Elephant Rocks.

I’m not sure why this is called Greens Pool. Maybe they think the water is greenish.

Anyway, it is a beautiful spot in the William Bay National Park.

Madfish Bay is also in William Bay. In fact, all these beaches are right next to each other within William Bay.

There’s a few origin stories for Madfish Bay. The one written on the sign was that a couple of fishermen saw a couple of mad fish going around eating or scaring all the other fish, so they couldn’t catch anything for themselves.

Not much of a story.

We stayed on a farm called Mount Romance. Contrary to its name, it was not some romantic cottage. It was more like a family home.

It got its name because the nearby mountain is called Mount Romance.

This photo is taken from the treetop walk. I think it is about 70 meters up.

There is a whole beach named Waterfall Beach because it has this tiny waterfall.

I enjoyed our few days around Denmark. Other than these places we found a nice little cidery which brewed some really delicious things, and a small toffee factory.

The only other place I wanted to visit was the chocolate lounge, but it only opened two days a week so we missed out on that.
