Of all the places I have traveled to, India is my least favorite.

It is dirty and extremely crowded.

China is all these things too, but it makes up for it with amazing food, and unfortunately, I am not a massive fan of Indian food.

Having said that, I still enjoyed my time there and would recommend anyone to go at least once.

Auroville

My most memorable India experience, besides getting violently ill, was Auroville.

“The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.”

Auroville is a very interesting place. Kind of like a commune, but not really. It's a bit hard to explain.

There are two things that I still remember about Auroville. The first was this meditation sphere. Unfortunately, I didn't book ahead so I never got to go inside.

The second was that it used to be a red dirt desert but they turned it into a lush green forest.

Eagle Temple

I had this noted down as Eagle Temple but I have no idea where it is and no recollection of going inside.

Suffice to say, there are many temples in India, and I would wager that this is a Hindu temple.

Five Rathas

The ‘Five Rathas’ are free-standing temples cut out of solid rock. These are found in the town of Mahabalipuram, which I remember being quite pleasant.

Puducherry

Auroville is near the town of Puducherry. This photo is of the beach in Puducherry.

There is a lot of history in India, and it is a vast land with lots to see, but it just wasn’t for me.

If you want an Indian-ish experience with less crowds and pollution, I suggest going to Sri Lanka instead.
