The first time I went to Latin America was in 2010.
There was a group of about eight of us that traveled through Central and South America for around a month.
It is one of the few group trips I have done. I’m not a fan of traveling in groups. To be honest, the majority of my travels have been solo, but this was a very memorable trip. It was a great crew.
Huacachina is an oasis town in the Peruvian desert. We went on a dune buggy tour and went sandboarding. I stacked it hard but came out unscathed.
In Peru, we went to Machu Picchu but we didn’t do the famous Inca Trail. I think we didn't book it ahead of time, and it is extremely popular.
Instead, we did an alternative tour which included a hike and bike riding over several days. It was really good.
Here, we are crossing a border. We crossed several borders by land in South America. Honestly, they were some of the dodgiest experiences I’ve had while traveling, especially when doing them at night.
A view of Panama City. We went to see the famous Panama Canal, which was very interesting.
This photo was taken by a friend of mine who traveled with us. It is in Quito, Ecuador.
I’ve been back to Latin America several times since this trip, including living in Colombia for almost a year, but there are still a few more countries I want to explore.
Hopefully, it won’t take me too long to get back there.
