The Message Game Summary: Chapter 6 - Choosing Words

You have a match, and you have given your opening line. What next?

What do you say after she has responded?

Every message you send needs to be three things:

1. It needs to be clear.

Unless you know for sure that your lingo will be understood, use language that a non-native speaker would understand.

2. It needs to be not needy or cringeworthy.

Read it to yourself in a playful tone. Does it fit the tone? If so, it’s good. If not, it is probably too desperate or needy.

3. It needs to move the conversation in the right direction.

With the end goal being to meet. Think about how someone might respond to what you are going to say.

When a conversation starts heading in a direction you don’t want it to go, use the word “anyway” to change the topic.

Voice messages can be a great way to communicate, as they give a more personal experience, provided your voice is clear and confident.

There are 3 types of communication:

1. Attraction

2. Comfort

3. Entertainment

An example of attraction communication is sexting. This is not the focus of ‘The Message Game’; however, it can be done when appropriate.

Comfort communication is important for overcoming barriers, such as age. Use it to reassure her that something is not an issue.

Entertainment communication is a trap many guys fall into. Don’t be boring, but don’t only be entertaining without arranging to meet. Meeting is the primary goal. Have fun while you do it.

“We are not going to have sex” can show up in various forms during your conversation.

When this happens, do not react. Just ignore it and continue the conversation. Alternatively, you could make a joke about it, e.g., “Of course not, I’m saving myself for marriage.”

You are not messaging to negotiate sex. All that matters is that you meet. Once you meet, anything can happen.
